Wild For You Copic Scene (Lawn Fawn)

I absolutely love the animal critter sets from Lawn Fawn and when I saw Sandy Allnock’s video, I had to give something similar a try. I haven’t had time to sit down and work on my Copic colouring for a while so this gave me the perfect opportunity!

I started out by stamping some of the animals from Lawn Fawn’s Elphie Selphie and Wild For You sets on some Clairefontaine DCP 210gsm paper. It’s a change for me paper wise as I usually use Neenah, but on Lesley Oman and Snow’s suggestion I am trying out this paper. I have to say that it is just as good and blends wonderfully, and it’s much cheaper than Neenah here in the UK. It makes your Copics squeak as you go along but it seems to use up the same amount of ink with no bleeding as the Neenah does. I was impressed with the red balloon – normally that would have bled, even on Neenah, but it stayed within the lines. I’ll do more experimenting but I think this will be my favourite paper from now on.

I started with the background, using all of my YG and darker green markers to make leaf like shapes. I then coloured the ground with some E markers, using the dotting technique to give some texture. Once dry, I used bold, bright colours to help distinguish the animals from the background. I found I had to go over the background leaves a couple of times to tone it down and help the animals stand out more. A couple of dots and lines with a white gel pen and some Glossy Accents for the balloon finished it off.

Thank you, Sandy, for the fabulous prompt, even if I didn’t include the city scene as you did. My animals obviously aren’t as crazy as yours!
