Of all the sets in Heffy Doodle‘s first release, the crocs in the Happy Snappy Crocs set are my absolute favourite. I have big plans for this stamp set for future cards, so watch this space! Green is my favourite colour and I got to practice my Copic colouring from my unfinished All About Animals Kit and Clowder Colouring Technique Class.
I stamped two of the crocs onto some ClareFontane 210gsm DCP Paper using some MFT Black Hybrid Copic friendly ink and used a variety of shades of G and YG Copic markers to colour them in. I also stamped and colouring in a few props: the wine bottle, the glass and a birthday present. Using the coordinating dies, I cut them out with my Big Shot.
I used the MFT Bold Diagonal Stripes Background stamp and some Versafine Onyx Black ink to create the background panel, cutting this just shy of the A6 side-folding white card base. Next, I cut the largest photo frame from the Lawn Fawn Say Cheese, Again die set from some white cardstock and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Heffy Doodle Happy Snappy Crocs set along the bottom. It didn’t stamp as bright as I liked so I went over it with my Sakura gel pen to make it stand out. I coloured the middle square of the frame using two Distress Oxide colours: Faded Jeans and Broken China. I cut another square from some white cardstock, inking it with some Distress Inks in Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn, then die cutting with one of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders.
I adhered these to some Lawn Fawn Cilantro cardstock (my favourite colour of them all!) and stuck to the background panel.
Of course, I had to include this happy little croc who’s hogging the wine bottle on the inside. This is a completely appropriate card for its intended recipient!
I have to say that I’m impressed with the quality of the Heffy Doodle stamps. They stamp and die cut beautifully and, best of all, the stamp and their inner cards fit into an Avery Elle stamp pocket without hassle. It’s the small things that count! Thank you, Lesley, for thinking of these things!
