Heffy Doodle Release 3 Blog Hop

Handmade Cards, HeffyDoodle Design Team

It’s time for the Heffy Doodle Release 3 blog hop! There are some fabulous products in this release so make sure you check out the amazing projects from everyone involved in the hop for inspiration! There’s also a £25 gift certificate to the Heffy Doodle Shop up for grabs for one lucky random winner so keep on reading.

My Project

My project for this hop features the fabulous Lucky Friends stamp set and coordinating dies. These cheeky little leprechauns just inspire bright and playful cards!

Lucky Friends (Heffy Doodle)

I started out with two A6 smooth white card panels and blended on some Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron, concentrating the darker colour at the bottom of the panels. I then splattered on a mixture of clean water and watered down Mowed Lawn to create some splatters and blots. One of these I used to die cut two grass panels. I mounted these onto the bottom of the main panel with some foam tape.

Lucky Friends (Heffy Doodle)

On some blending card stock I stamped out the majority of the images of the set and coloured them in with my Copic markers. As the background featured more yellowy greens, I chose some green markers with a bluer base tone so the leprechauns and clovers stand out. A little foam tape and a few little touches of white get pen helped to give the care a little bit more dimension. I also die cut a rainbow that I coloured in with Copics and adhered directly to the back panel.

Lucky Friends (Heffy Doodle)

I chose a sentiment from the set ‘Cheers & Good Luck’, which I white heat embossed on some black card stock. I cut this into a banner and mounted on some foam tape. I hung the horse shoe at a jaunty angle from the sentiment. A scattering of clear and light green sequins finishes off the card nicely.

Lucky Friends (Heffy Doodle)

I hope you found my card inspiring. Don’t forget to check out the projects from the other artists in the hop (next stop is Alexandra Stapleton).

Tallie, I love the composition of the different images from the latest Heffy Doodle release on your project, such as the jaunty placed horseshoe on the thin sentiment strip and the glass of beer in the leprechaun’s hand (surely this should have been coloured black to represent Guiness LOL). I am currently as a crafter myself, looking for different ways to create backgrounds and I love the technique you have used with the Distressed Inks. I think these inks are going to have to be the next investment in my craft stash as you don’t get the same effect with just blending dye inks. Thank you Tallie, I have really enjoyed reading through your blog post and looking at the photographs of the different stages of your project. :O)

Thank you for your wonderful comment, Lorraine! 🙂
I definitely made a mistake not making the Guinness darker! I’d definitely suggest Distress Inks of some type – I love the mini inks as they take up less space. Good luck with your crafting adventures!
